Title and Brief outline of research project

1

Dr.Nandini Bahri

Dental Ct: Evaluation of dental profile and epidemiology and pathology of jaw and dental lesions in state of Gujarat.

To evaluate the changing dental profile with changing milieu – absence of molar teeth in younger generations, with more consumption of processed foods, across 10,000 scans.

Exact measurement of teeth cavity for dental implants

This newer type of focused dental ct gives collimated radiation and excellent visualization of part being examined without damaging surrounding sensitive organs like eyes , brain etc, especially in pediatric patients and cancer patients receiving frequent radiation exposure .

There is no such equipment in Government set up in entire state, so this study and availability of this equipment will be a great benefit to a large cross section of poor patients.

2

Dr.Hiral Parekh

Title:

Early diagnosis of intracranial hemorrhage in case of trauma patients is possible with the help of newer MRI sequences. Patients with hemorrhage require hospital administration and close observation before discharge. MRI helps to reduce morbidity/mortality.

3

Dr. Shilpa Chudasama

Title: MR Salpingography to evaluate the tubal patency in female infertility.

It is non invasive technique, done without contrast injection, ionizing radiation or anesthesia. I am planning to conduct this study for 500 patients.

To the best of my knowledge this study is not being done previously in the country. MRI is the best tool to evaluate the female pelvic structure in totality, so along with the tubal patency, rest of other causes of female infertity can be evaluated.

For this study, MRI machine is already there in this institute but special MR Salpingography catheter is highly required.

4

Dr M.T.Makada

Ttle:Comparative study of value of contrast ultrasonography and contrast mri/ct scan in liver lesions.

Contrast ct scan and mri are valuable tools to pick up liver lesions as well as for further evaluation of liver lesions. However these both methods are time consuming and require intravenous contrast administration and ct scan is having risk of radiation exposure and MRI is having certain contraindications. So contrast ultrasonography is a useful new tool for characterization of liver lesions.

5

Dr Ketan Rathod

Title : MRI in epilepsy diagnosis

Early diagnosis of brain parenchymaL changes and hippocampal changes can be seen with MRI, which further helps in management and treatment protocol of the particular patient with epilepsy.

6

Dr. Pratiksha Modi

Title: Sonohysterography

Transvaginal Sonohysterography (TSH), also called hysterosonography is a noninvasive procedure involving the slow infusion of sterile saline solution into the uterus during ultrasound imaging. This is a procedure which evaluates abnormal growths inside the uterus and abnormalities of the tissue lining the uterus (endometrium). TSH does not require either radiation or contrast media or invasive surgical procedures.

7

Dr.Tabassum Belim

Title: MRI sinography

It is non invasive, radiation free procedure to evaluate perianal fistula and sinuses. It gives detailed examination findings of para rectal and para anal ischiorectal space, pelvic abscess and intercommunicating multiple tracts. It also provides detailed evaluation of non healing complex fistula.
